Dr Thomas Hess is a consultant paediatric radiologist at the Children's Hospital and is a radiologist with paediatric subspecialty at Qscan Radiology Clinics. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 1998 and his internship at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1999. 

Tom went on to undertake his residency and registrar training at the Royal Free Hospital in London, Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and Mater Children's Hospital in Brisbane. 

In 2003, Tom was appointed to the Queensland Radiology Registrar Training Program and completed his training to become a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists through the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

In 2007, Tom travelled to Vancouver to complete a General Paediatric Radiology Fellowship at the British Columbia Children's Hospital. The fellowship covered a range of paediatric radiology subspecialties, including neuroimaging, musculoskeletal imaging, body imaging, cardiac imaging, intervention radiology, neonatology, paediatric intensive care, oncology, and emergency medicine.

Tom returned to Australia, where he was appointed as a consultant paediatric radiologist at the Royal Children's Hospital and Mater Children's Hospital. In 2014, Tom successfully transitioned to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital as a consultant paediatric radiologist.
